Unable to collapse the left side panel in teams anymore

As of yesterday, the display of my teams will no longer collapse the left side panel. I've tried settings, restarting the app, and restarting the computer. It used to open after selecting one of the options next to it, like chat or teams and then it would automatically close after I selected what I wanted from those options. How do I get it to collapse again?

This is obviously an update issue on YOUR end since some of these options don't work and others aren't even available in the desktop version of Teams. Please enable closing of the left panel - I don't need to see what's in that panel all the time but I do need to see what's in chat.

    1. My interface does not have "two diagonal arrows icon as the Collapse tab at the top-right corner of the screen when you open a tab in a Teams channel".
    2. "Window > Zoom" does not zoom. It maximizes the app to fit the width of my screen. (selecting it again reduces it to the previous width).
    3. A "Collapse app in the sidebar toggle" does not exist in Settings > Appearance (nor anywhere else?)

I thought perhaps Teams for Mac differs wildly from the PC version, but browsing through these comments, unless we're ALL on Mac, we're being led down a path that simply does not exist.

Microsoft Teams for Mac, Version 24215.1002.3039.5089 (24215.1002.3039.5089)

    Dear help me please:),

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue with the new Microsoft Teams. Here are a few steps you can try to get the left side panel in Microsoft Teams to collapse again:

    • Look for the two diagonal arrows icon labeled as the Collapse tab at the top-right corner of the screen when you open a tab in a Teams channel. Clicking this should toggle the left side panel.
    • Sometimes, adjusting the zoom level can help. Click on the three dots next to your profile picture, go to Settings > General, and set the zoom level to 100%.
    • If the above steps don’t work, try increasing the resolution of your monitor. This can sometimes affect how elements are displayed in Teams.
    • Have you checked to make sure the “Collapse app in the sidebar” toggle switch is turned on? Go to Settings > Appearance and look for the “Collapse app in the sidebar” toggle switch. Make sure this is turned on.
    • You’ve already tried this, but just to ensure, have you tried clearing the cache again by following these steps:
      1. Close Microsoft Teams.
      2. Navigate to %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams on your computer.
      3. Delete the contents of the Cache folder.
      4. Restart Teams.

If none of these steps work, please let me know and we can explore other options. Please note that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution. Thank you for your help.

Yes indeed. I'm on a PC and my employer (a company of over 5k employees) manages everything on the device so I have no administrative access and would be laughed at for submitting a ticket for something like this. It's up to Microsoft to provide a fix via an update - otherwise we are stuck with something that serves no purpose other than to take up space.

This fix worked for me on a previous version, but did not with the current (latest). Microsoft Teams (for Mac) Version 24215.1002.3039.5089 (24215.1002.3039.5089)

I was able to fix this issue. I completely uninstalled teams from my computer and restarted my computer. Than after resinstalling it the tab collapsed as it shouldn
