Unable to collapse the left side panel in teams anymore

As of yesterday, the display of my teams will no longer collapse the left side panel. I've tried settings, restarting the app, and restarting the computer. It used to open after selecting one of the options next to it, like chat or teams and then it would automatically close after I selected what I wanted from those options. How do I get it to collapse again?

YES!!! I am at peace again! I had to make my zoom at exactly 105% in order for me to not feel the "pane" anymore. Thank you!!!

Since I use Teams for work I wasn't able to uninstall and reinstall like some users had which seemed to work for them. However I was able to fix this using the following steps:

    1. Go to Add or Remove Programs in the system settings (you can easily find it using the search bar)
    2. Click on Microsoft Teams
    3. Click Advanced Options
    4. Click Reset

After it finished resetting I opened Teams back up and, although it had reverted to light mode, the side bar issue was fixed. I put it back into dark mode and went on with my day.

    Hope this helps somebody :)

This is the only way to *temporarily* resolve the issue.

Sadly, the issue will crop back up if any of the following happens:

    • Use the CTRL + Mouse wheel to zoom during a call
    • Leave your machine open until it goes to rest/standby and you reopen
    • Zoom in or out too far while in windowed mode, aka not full-screen/maximized
    • Reboot your PC

This will likely continue to cause many headaches (not just in me) until Microsoft is able to address the issue in a patch. Here's hoping they at least see the problem soon.

This solution works for me for a brief period then the app shows an update available, and the loop starts over again.
