Unable to collapse the left side panel in teams anymore

As of yesterday, the display of my teams will no longer collapse the left side panel. I've tried settings, restarting the app, and restarting the computer. It used to open after selecting one of the options next to it, like chat or teams and then it would automatically close after I selected what I wanted from those options. How do I get it to collapse again?

Right click teams from the start menu. Open settings. Click both repair and reset. Relaunch. It works.

Previously I had tried reset/repair multiple times with no success. With so many people claiming it works, I tried it again today and it worked!

I was having the same issue but was able to resolve it pretty easily! Close out of Teams > Navigate to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Locate Microsoft Teams > Advanced Options under the 3-dots > scroll down to Reset and select it. Easier and quicker than doing an uninstall/reinstall.

Thank you this fixed the non-collapsing left sidebar.

And yes, the chats remained there with pinned people and so on. Only thing that was reset was my Teams settings and most noticeably the teams color theme and notification settings. And my second organization account was removed from the list but you could easily add it back. Small price to pay for peace of mind and stopping the hindrance to your workflow.

This... sort of worked for me?

There are three apps for teams on my computer. (I have now uninstalled teams (classic) since it won't even open on my system anymore.)

I used the "reset" button on both the Teams (new) with the white icon in the foreground AND the Teams (new) with the purple icon in the foreground. After using reset both times, there was still no change. I then used repair on both versions, and still no change.

However, I had to go through and re-submit some of my preferences/settings, and noticed that the search bar at the top of the screen no longer has a left arrow to shrink. After clicking away from settings and messing with the search bar, the collapsible bar finally collapsed.

I'm not certain which part of this process fixed it, or if it was a combination of futzing with all of them.

I am experiencing this problem as well. I attempted, as others, to follow the steps outlined above in order to correct the issue, but as others, the two diagonal arrows described in the support answer do not exist for me, nor does the option under "appearance and accessibility" to toggle the sidebar collapse on/off.

Perhaps if these issues could be remedied, or if you could inform us what version of Teams your support team is referring to, we could provide more details.

My system is owned by my organization, but these are the details I am able to provide at a glance:

Version information (copied from "About Teams")

You have Microsoft Teams version 24215.1007.3082.1590.You've got the latest version. It was last checked on 8/28/2024.The client version is 49/24080212008.

    Windows information

    Edition: Windows 11 Pro
    Version: 23H2

    Installed on: 3/28/2024

    OS build: 22631.4037

Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1027.0
