Unable to collapse the left side panel in teams anymore

As of yesterday, the display of my teams will no longer collapse the left side panel. I've tried settings, restarting the app, and restarting the computer. It used to open after selecting one of the options next to it, like chat or teams and then it would automatically close after I selected what I wanted from those options. How do I get it to collapse again?

    That's not a solution, as many use Teams in a minimized view. And making the page zoom look bigger doesn't make it easier to view the conversations. The issue is MS failing to correct something they broke in an update. The other problem is there isn't enough noise for the m to care about fixing it.

    Thinking to be clever, I found and restored this folder from Recycle Bin:

      C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams\UserAvatarIcons

    This restored my avatars... but also restored the non-collapsible sidebar problem! 😒

    I stumbled upon a solution for this, If you hold control and use your mouse wheel you can zoom in and out. Out of frustration I just kept zooming in and eventually the chat panel went away and now it works like it used to.

    I have this same problem now too, there must have been an update, but I have no diagonal arrows icon, no zoom in my settings or 'collapse app in sidebar'.

    In case it helps, my org's helpdesk advised clearing cache - which worked for me - via these steps:

    1. Force close Teams completely > then using the file explorer go here and delete all files and folders in these locations:
    2. For NEW Teams
      C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
    3. For OLD Teams
      C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams

    NOTE this will wipe out any avatars or custom backgrounds, although my settings seem to be intact.
