Unable to collapse the left side panel in teams anymore

As of yesterday, the display of my teams will no longer collapse the left side panel. I've tried settings, restarting the app, and restarting the computer. It used to open after selecting one of the options next to it, like chat or teams and then it would automatically close after I selected what I wanted from those options. How do I get it to collapse again?

What the hell Microsoft? Leave the left side panel alone! It was fine before you gave it all this resize stuff. Some of us have ultra-wide monitors set up with side windows. Do you guys even QA anymore? Or just throw **** at a dartboard and hope it sticks? Frikken ridiculous....

After repair, resetting twice, then uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting computer, then again repair and resetting it FINALLY started collapsing again. This isn't the first time the same issue happened to me either.

Still not sure why the collapse option isn't under my appearance tab on the settings

Yes, I noticed it this morning. Instead of being able to click "Teams" icon on the far left (icon) panel (the slim one), the list of teams then appearing (side panel), and then the side panel disappearing once a team/chat is selected, it remains there.

Why can't Microsoft leave it alone? It was fine as it was. Now it's just annoying again. The far left icon panel and the main chat window are the important ones and should always remain in view. The side panel should only appear once an icon has been clicked, and then disappear once an option has been selected.

Although you can get a view where the icon panel and main chat window are in view (although the whole window has to be fairly wide now to make that possible), you can't open the list of teams/chats by clicking the Chat icon. Nothing happens - the side panel remains closed:

What we need is for the side panel to open when "Chat" is clicked, and then close again when a Team/Chat is selected. Also, the window shouldn't have to be as wide as currently required for the icon panel to display.

It appears that Microsoft has now changed the side panel to a drawer. It has to be opened and closed manually all the time. I much preferred the old functionality, as the side panel is only a view that needs displaying temporarily in order for a user to select a person or team. I am pretty sure that the majority of people who use Teams don't want the side panel always in view and only want it shown for the purposes of selection, one reason being that the side panel takes up a bulk of the full width of the window.

It has started happening again with version 25072.1611.3570.1995. I uninstalled the program and installed an old version from December 2024, and it works fine, but after a while, Teams automatically updates to the latest version.

    Any solution for this bug?

Apparently if you click on a chat that you want, it makes the sidebar shrink into the background. God forbid they just make a product that actually works without having to search for workarounds...
