Unable to collapse the left side panel in teams anymore

As of yesterday, the display of my teams will no longer collapse the left side panel. I've tried settings, restarting the app, and restarting the computer. It used to open after selecting one of the options next to it, like chat or teams and then it would automatically close after I selected what I wanted from those options. How do I get it to collapse again?

One of my smart users realized that if she set her zoom in Teams to 115%, the left pane collapses when you drag the drag any side border to narrow the width of the Teams app enough, and when expanded the left pane reappears.

This worked brilliantly. I was so frustrated how it scrunched up the main chat threads, and I didn't want to enlarge the window at all. Setting it to 115% not only collapsed it, but changed it to it only appearing when the mouse is over. The window is still the same size, and because it shrunk things down when it was stuck, the size increase doesn't actually change from how it used to be!

This began happening to me very recently, as well. I see a lot of frustration on this, understandably. Hoping Microsoft's next update will fix this issue and allow the column to be collapsable - I think with it expanded, it makes things very busy/noisy and causes some overwhelm. Not to mention the excess real estate on the screen, as mentioned prior.

That's NOT a fix. And CERTAINLY NOT an answer.

My response was in reply to KpNjMe's post (quoted below). I cleared the folder mentioned for the new version of Teams, restarted the app, and the side panel did collapse when I reduced the size of the app window. My post was to confirm that their advice worked for me.

In case it helps, my org's helpdesk advised clearing cache - which worked for me - via these steps:

    1. Force close Teams completely > then using the file explorer go here and delete all files and folders in these locations:
    2. For NEW Teams C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
    3. For OLD Teams C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams
