Notifications in the "new" Teams are horrible. I keep missing activity posts, chats and phone calls because I'm not notified. I do NOT want another email report of new posts and things I missed throughout the day. I want a notification indicator on the taskbar icon, a notification indicator on the Activity/Chat/Calls icons in the left column, and I want the @ notification if I'm tagged in anything. I'm eager to use the "new" Teams but so far there are too many things are just plain terrible and useless.

It HAS worked. I occasionally do get the task bar notification but then many hours without it working.
I have been playing around with this and I believe I found a fix-it. I don't like the notification box either, as it gets in my way. I like the Icon to flash and to show a red number for messages. After MANY, MANY trial and errors, this is what worked for me. After making changes, be sure to force close in Task Manager and re-open.
Under Notifications, make sure all 4 boxes are checked and then for "Chat Message Notifications" make sure that shows as OFF.
Why are the notifications not being removed after I review the message? Once I check it, it’s removed and then added to the total that has been received.
Yes, they messed SO many things up in their Teams updates, and its hilarious to see "advisors" in this chat trying to get people to do the normal troubleshooting steps as though this is a local issue.

Notifications only say that people are replying to MY message, so i never know what is for me, and what can be ignored. So i CONSTANTLY have to check Teams manually with every notification. Not some huge issue on its own, it takes seconds, but when MS is marketting themselves as the team management company of 2024...it's just kind of ironic.
Also, forcing our messages to have subject lines is such a confusing "update". Im sure some companies need these, but they should only be included when you change your message type to "Announcement" because otherwise "Announcements" are functionally useless, and we RARELY need a "subject" for typical work communications. It made it so that instead of just being able to click "Start A Post" and start typing, i have to click another thing every time. Which is different than EVERY OTHER COMMUNICATION TOOL in existence, so again, its confusing when they are touting themselves as the answer to efficiency in Team Communication this year.
These updates are really confusing. It's like their focus groups were all internal and they took no outside advice. VIDEO GAMES are more rigorously tested than this. Just saying.
I was having the same issue of the Teams Icon not notifying me with a number whenever someone directly messaged me. I fixed it and this is what I did.
