I cannot see students' average grade per grading category, but I can see the class average

I have experimented using grading categories on MS Teams this year and all of my assignments have been categorised (I teach Spanish so have categorised my assignments as Listening, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Vocab and Speaking). When I go into Insights I was expecting to be able to see how each student was performing in each area but it doesn't show up. I can just see the class average but not the average for the individual student.

Does anybody know why this may be?

Hi Smith, Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I am a Microsoft user just like you, and I hope you are well.

Microsoft Teams for Education does not provide a way to see individual student grades per grading category. However, it is possible to see the class average for each category.

It is also possible to create and manage grading rubrics in Microsoft Teams, which can help provide more detailed feedback to students on their performance.

In the meantime, there are a few workarounds that you can try:

    1. Export the student grades to a spreadsheet. You can do this by going to the Grades tab in Microsoft Teams and clicking on the "Export" button. Once the grades have been exported to a spreadsheet, you can use a pivot table to calculate the average grade for each student per grading category.
    2. Use a third-party grading tool. There are a number of third-party grading tools available that can help you to track students' grades and generate reports. Some of these tools offer the ability to track grades by grading category.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best Regards, Umar Majeed
