Hi, I have upgraded to "New Teams". I'm writing in multiple languages in different chats. The "old" Version was automatically identifying the language and then do spelling check for this language as described in following article:
Unfortunately this feature does not work on the "new" teams. How can I get back this feature?

Especially when you consider that the feature was working perfectly well in the "old" Teams, before users were forced to switch to the current one, after the big remake. Really frustrating.
as a workaround for me it worked to word with the web version of Teams and use Teams in the web browser via office.com

unfortunately that still does not work, when using two languages all the time. Or even three. Then half the conversations I would have in browser, half in the app, very unconvinient.
As we have more than one tennant, we use that feature for haveing two active tennants at once, but for chats, this is too much of an inconvinience for me. I disabled the spellcheck completely, as the red underlining annoys me. Same as here, browser is set to English, I write in English, but spellcheck seems to take the system language (that I cannot change).
To be honest, I simply do not understand, how that feature has been removed. It was there and working, and somehow someone or something took it away. Initially I thought that the feature is added to some premium license model, but no, it is just gone.
I'm beginning to think the reason for disabling language detection in Teams had something to do with Microsoft's roll out of the Copilot AI. It's interesting that CoPilot in Teams understands multiple languages, but the chat portion doesn't work. I now write my chats in Word, and then copy paste into the chat. The process is cumbersome at best. I now wish we had Slack instead of Teams.
Amazing that Microsoft forces its "New" version on us without bothering reenabling all the functionalities.
It's more than a year and still no one cares !!
