I appear to be the only one on our team (suddenly and inexplicably) missing the Gif button on my Teams desktop App/browser. It appears the same when I log on via edge. Where has my GIF button gone and how do I get it back?

If you update your teams, you'll lose the GIF button. You can swap back to the old/original teams to bring the GIF button back, until they fix this function on the updated version. Have fun sending laughs around work :)
Turn on the Optional connected experiences option under the Privacy setting and you will then find it hiding behind the happy face emoji.
Uninstalled all teams apps on my machine. Had the new client, old client, and Microsoft default client. After uninstalling all I went to teams.microsoft.com/downloads to reinstall the new client and the chat bar options were as they should be with GIF as an option.
The bigger issue is according to Microsoft's timeline, Classic Teams is unavailable as of March 31 End of availability for classic Teams client - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn So you can't flip back to something else.
