We are able to create the announcement post with custom image/banner but with the latest version of teams- 1.6.00.12405 (64-bit), the feature to upload custom image/banner is no longer available.
Any workaround to bring back the feature?

I too would like to have the usability of our own pictures back on posts.

I have this issue - how do I know if I am in preview or developer mode?
Can we have an update on when we will see the new functionality please? I am needing to send out comms with images and this is causing issues for our UK organisation.

Why is Microsoft removing this feature from the new version?
My latest version of Teams Classic + Teams New (not preview) has the banner removed from announcement.
I too am having the issue of no announcement banner. All of the new instructions online, and the message in this thread talk about using Microsoft designer which is free, but apparently not allowed for my account type? Is anyone else having this issue with the new Teams as well?
Yes, same issue here. Looks like they removed the background image functionality. Extremely disappointing.
