What happened to the spellcheck feature on the new Teams??

I have notice that the spell check seems to be broken on the new Teams version. The incorrectly spelled word still gets underlined in red, and a suggestion list populates as it used to, but the suggestions are ridiculous. A perfect example is the word "definitely".

You’ve tried “what” multiple times and I’m “incorrect” about what?

Several people where I work have lost the spellcheck functionality all together. Myself included. Some are missing the .bdic file in "C:\Users<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Dictionaries" and some are missing the Dictionaries folder all together.

I don't believe new Teams uses its own dictionary file for spellcheck. It uses something from the OS or Edge as the issue affected Edge when filling out forms etc as well. The issue reported here was to be resolved via a Windows update, not Teams.

I know I do not have a "Dictionaries" folder within that path on any of my Teams installs.

What version of Windows are you running?
You can go to Start > Run and type "Winver" to see.

Include the Version & Build number.

Windows 11 - which is where the issue reported was occurring - needed an update to correct this issue.

To clear cache - you must go to %localappdata%\packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Localcache\Microsoft\MSTeams and delete the contents of that folder - while signed out of Teams.
