Sending multimedia content and documents within chat conversations in Teams
Yes you do. You need to play the video full screen first and then the share button will be in the top right on android.

Using the Teams App (windows) or the Teams App (Android)
I have a student who has sent me video of them completing an assignment via a teams chat. I can see no way to download this file directly or move it to oneDrive so I can document the learning. Most of the help docs on this talk about how to download a meeting recording...to be very clear it isn't that.
With everything else I can either hit the three dots and hit download, or it shows up in the "files" section of the chat. These videos don't have that option and don't register as files in the files section.
How can I get these files out of the Teams ecosystem and keep them?

You don't get a "share" button option with Iphone.
I don't understand how there are so many functional gaps in teams. You can download an image but not a video?
Here's a workaround I found. Go to the video in your team's mobile app (I'm using the Android version). Hold your finger down on the video and hit the "share" button. The video should (hopefully) automatically download to your phone. If not, I forwarded the videos to myself via text/WhatsApp and then downloaded the videos through text/WhatsApp.
Hope this helps.
