Teams chat no longer works for my organization on Android phones

I'm an admin for my organization, and over the past few days I've been getting a lot of support complaints about Teams chat not working on Android phones. As of last week, it was working for me, so I suspected it was a phone specific problem. However, when I first opened the app today I noticed that all my chats and functionality suddenly disappeared. The only option available in the teams app seems to be calling.

I checked the org policies, and everything is correct. This looks to be a bug on the latest version of the app.

I managed to get to "activities" by trying to save a photo to the teams app, and when I bring this up it says "Administrator has disabled chat for this user." I'm the admin, and I certainly didn't do this. All policies under messaging allow for chat.

Please help!

    Hi Sherry,

Thanks for letting me know. For what it's worth, I didn't see much online about this particular issue, but I did note a good amount mentioned in the app reviews where folks reported this exact problem. Seems the complaints were from within the last week or so, so it probably relates to a very recent update.

    Dear Austin,

Baed on your information, the Teams is still having this issue even when you confirmed the settings are fine. I agree that this might be some backend issue, so I did some research about this.

Currently for Teams, there is an SI has been released which is related Teams function for Andriod OS:

Although the detailed issue is not as the same as which you have reported, currently for Teams for Mobiles, there are some other service issues reported, like missing channels in Teams for Mobile. In this situation, I suppose that there are some service issues that are not discovered or not officially released by the product team now.

So, the quickest way to confirm is to ccontact the our higher-level support group: Please go to Office 365 Admin Center-> Support-> New Service Request. The support engineers there have the correct escalation channel, and this is the most efficient way to report such issue. You can refer to this article to check the way how to raise a ticket: Ways to contact support for business products - Admin help. The engineers in related team have higher permission and resources than us, they would provide the detailed information is this issue is caused by the backend problems and would share you the latest work around if threre is any.

At the same time, I will keep collecting and monitoring this issue in our forum and checking with the official notifications. When I get any useful information, I will let you know ASAP.

Meanwhile, if you could get any information after reaching the support group, kindly share the information back here, this would be very helpful for all of our engineers and users in this communnity.

Thanks for your time and your understanding would be highly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Sherry | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Hi,

I have exactly the same issues reported in my company, and am personally experiencing exactly the problem that is reported (No chat available).
On top of that, also the Calender is unavailable, and joining meetings is also not working.
My colleague checked on his phone, did not have the issue, until the app updated 2 minutes later and then he had the same issue.

App version that does not work currently:
    1416/1.0.0.2023173501/0925
    Call-version: 2023.31.01.1

    Hey,
I have exactly the same issues reported in my company and am personally experiencing exactly the problem that is reported (No chat available).
On top of that, also the calendar is unavailable.

This issue affected our company all Android users after the teams update. That is really annoying and frustrating.

    Any solution?

    Cheers
