Surface Pro 8 camera issues caused by Teams and New Teams

Hi,

My Surface Pro 8 has always had the issue of the camera not responding after joining a Teams session, then a Zoom or Google Meet session and then a Teams session again. With the new Teams App, the problem is much worst since it manages to mess up the camera by itself; I could be in the middle of a Teams session and the camera just freezes. The problem does not go away until I reset the computer. If I place it on stand by mode, Windows cannot activate the camera when I wake it up, it takes a reset to make the camera work again.

I have seen numerous post from other users with the same problem and all I have read as an answer form Microsoft is to update drivers or firmware. I hav done that multiple times, in fact, I just did again and the problem persists. Will look for a way to get back to the previous Team desktop application to make life bearable for a bit.

I will appreciate any assistance.

    I can send you a link to the driver if you wish. Then you have to browse for it.

    I upgraded To win 11 as mentioned before, driver updated to 14/6/2023 with the win update, and camera started freezing again.

    I then installed the win 10 driver from 2020 and I haven’t had any problems again. I have to say that I just had 3 meetings today, but it’s looking good.

    I found the page where one can download any driver version. The problem is that I do not know how to install it.

    Could you share the process that you followed to install an older driver version once your Surface was on Win 11?

    When you download the file, you’ll get a .cab file. Double click on it to open it and see its content.

    Select all the files and copy them to an empty new folder you have to create.

    Once the files are there, go to device administrator, select camera, avl intel, update driver -> Find a driver in my pc -> browse and look for the folder you just created that contains de files - > click ok and that’s it.

    Repeat for intel control logic (3), front camera, rear camera and ir camera.

    Reboot.

    That’s it

    Hi.

    With win 11 and driver from June 2023 camera freezes.

    With windows 11 and the driver from 2020 (win 10 driver) camera is no freezing anymore, but in the middle of the meetings I get a blue screen and the surface restarts.

    So, I rolled back to windows 10 yesterday, with the 2020 driver and surface has been working perfectly again.

    My conclusion:

    1.- surface pro 7+ camera fails if windows 11 is installed

      • surface pro 7+ camera fails if windows 10 is installed and a driver newer than 2020 is installed.

    3.- if windows 10 is installed and camera driver is older o equal to 2020, the device works perfectly.
