Surface Pro 8 camera issues caused by Teams and New Teams

Hi,

My Surface Pro 8 has always had the issue of the camera not responding after joining a Teams session, then a Zoom or Google Meet session and then a Teams session again. With the new Teams App, the problem is much worst since it manages to mess up the camera by itself; I could be in the middle of a Teams session and the camera just freezes. The problem does not go away until I reset the computer. If I place it on stand by mode, Windows cannot activate the camera when I wake it up, it takes a reset to make the camera work again.

I have seen numerous post from other users with the same problem and all I have read as an answer form Microsoft is to update drivers or firmware. I hav done that multiple times, in fact, I just did again and the problem persists. Will look for a way to get back to the previous Team desktop application to make life bearable for a bit.

I will appreciate any assistance.

    Hi,

    Has anyone found a permanent fix for this? I have recently returned my previous surface pro 7+ due to the camera problem but the new one is having the exact same problem. Camera will freeze during a Teams call, the camera light will stay on but the camera will no longer work and it will say "no camera connected". Windows Hello will no longer work either. Only gets resolved when I restart the surface pro but can guarantee the same problem will happen next time I use Teams. Thanks.

    Hello,

    After 3 years, now I can confirm this workaround turned into a solution_ Surface Pro 7 Plus working perfectly. No more camera freezing.

    Same driver or Intel Control Logic and Rear, Front and IR camera under "System devices" in Device Administrator.

    Hola Ricardo,

    Tengo Windows 11 y no logre instalar esa version del controlador, obtuve el mensaje:

    "An error occurred trying to open - C:\Temp\e331148c-74cc-447e-8875-88a2dd9715fe_65a378f6b3e60f84f4233be9be346bbab7231209.cab Error: 0x80070002

    Error: 2

    El sistema no puede encontrar el archivo especificado"

    En el dism.log, el error es:

    "2024-03-19 19:54:58, Info CSI 00000001 Shim considered [l:126]'??\C:\WINDOWS\Servicing\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.22621.3294_none_e96368b442c95c86\wcp.dll' : got STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND"

    En efecto, es Windows 11 no existe esa librería en ese folder.

    ¿Alguna idea? ¿Cómo diste con esa version particular del driver?

    Hola Ciro.

    El drivers me lo instaló windows 10 cuando hice un factory reset de la surface y le cargué la imagen de fábrica.

    La actualicé a windows 11 anoche y me cambió el driver por el 60.22000.5.12796 de fecha 14/6/2023. Voy a probarla así, pero intuyo que va a fallar.

    Si falla, restauro al driver del 2020 que instaló windows 10 cuando le cargué la imagen original. Ese driver es 60.19041.2.2768.

    Pero recuerda, esto es para una surface pro 7 plus.

    Hi Ricardo,

    Back to English for our Anglo speaking folks.

    Do you know how to roll back to a previous driver? When I try to install a different camera driver than the one Windows 11 recognizes has the "best", it would not install. I keep getting a message that states that the most current driver is already installed.

    I tried to install using DISM through the command prompt but got the error message that I included in my previous message.

    Any thoughts?
