Surface Pro 8 camera issues caused by Teams and New Teams

Hi,

My Surface Pro 8 has always had the issue of the camera not responding after joining a Teams session, then a Zoom or Google Meet session and then a Teams session again. With the new Teams App, the problem is much worst since it manages to mess up the camera by itself; I could be in the middle of a Teams session and the camera just freezes. The problem does not go away until I reset the computer. If I place it on stand by mode, Windows cannot activate the camera when I wake it up, it takes a reset to make the camera work again.

I have seen numerous post from other users with the same problem and all I have read as an answer form Microsoft is to update drivers or firmware. I hav done that multiple times, in fact, I just did again and the problem persists. Will look for a way to get back to the previous Team desktop application to make life bearable for a bit.

I will appreciate any assistance.

    Hi Simon,

    I am pretty certain the problem is with the Surface Pro camera drivers and any web application that uses the camera. I have made sure nothing else is running while using the New Teams app and the issue still ocurs. However, I will go through the steps that you suggest while the latest drivers download.

    1. Not anymore, I removed Teams from the list of applications that start automatically.
    2. None of them were running. I started the new Teams App and it is the only one running.
    3. Zoom starts an App on my computer whenever I start a session. It does not run automatically on startup. Google meet I use it 100% web based.
    4. No application has used it other than Teams during the past 48 hrs,

    I will install the new drivers in a bit (assuming they are not already installed) and give it a try.

    I'm having the same problem - zoom has been an ongoing issue but now with Teams it isn't working at all! It freezes instantly and then just switches off. I can't get it to work even if I restart and have everything else shut down.

    Hi Sola,

    Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, it did not help. The problem is not triggered only by the New Teams app, it happens whenever I use a web app that uses the camera, such as Google Meet, Zoom or the New Teams app.

    All of my camera drivers are up to date (front, rear, IR) and I have also downloaded and installed the lates Surface firmware and drivers. It seems a dead end.

    My next step is to try an external USB camera and see if it works fine. Also, I am discouraging any person I know from buying a Surface Pro table. I was an avid fan and have passed my previous versions to my kids.

    By the way, mi daughter's Surface 7 Pro has the exact same issue.
