Surface Pro 8 camera issues caused by Teams and New Teams

Hi,

My Surface Pro 8 has always had the issue of the camera not responding after joining a Teams session, then a Zoom or Google Meet session and then a Teams session again. With the new Teams App, the problem is much worst since it manages to mess up the camera by itself; I could be in the middle of a Teams session and the camera just freezes. The problem does not go away until I reset the computer. If I place it on stand by mode, Windows cannot activate the camera when I wake it up, it takes a reset to make the camera work again.

I have seen numerous post from other users with the same problem and all I have read as an answer form Microsoft is to update drivers or firmware. I hav done that multiple times, in fact, I just did again and the problem persists. Will look for a way to get back to the previous Team desktop application to make life bearable for a bit.

I will appreciate any assistance.

    I have the same problem, if it's not resolved I will have to contemplate buying a laptop but based on the same issues w newer versions of the Surface Pro, it won't be a Microsoft product. Ridiculous to have this level of issues with a laptop that's a year old.

    Same issue here. I have rolled back to the previous Teams and now it works fine just in Teams. I have issues with Zoom and Google Meet. I have found that if I don't switch between apps when I'm on a video conference the camera works fine, but if I switch the probability that camera freezes are very high.

    All drivers are up to date.

    Hi Sola,

    Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, it did not help. The problem is not triggered only by the New Teams app, it happens whenever I use a web app that uses the camera, such as Google Meet, Zoom or the New Teams app.

    All of my camera drivers are up to date (front, rear, IR) and I have also downloaded and installed the lates Surface firmware and drivers. It seems a dead end.

    My next step is to try an external USB camera and see if it works fine. Also, I am discouraging any person I know from buying a Surface Pro table. I was an avid fan and have passed my previous versions to my kids.

    By the way, mi daughter's Surface 7 Pro has the exact same issue.

    Same issue here. The camera stops working in the middle of a teams meeting. I see a white screen for the camera pane and the others in the meeting see my video as a frozen image.
