Teams Meeting Notes missing from Meetings detail screen

I am working out an issue for user regarding the meeting notes sections in Teams. Specifically, when they view the meeting details from their team's personal calendar - the Meeting Notes section is missing (example from my calendar):

The users:

Version of teams: 1.5.00.28567
Meeting type: Private meeting on personal calendar

The user can access the meeting notes by opening the chat for the meeting. The Meeting notes tab is visible, and they can access the content.

I had the user create a meeting as well as create the meeting notes for that meeting, but they still don't have the associated meeting notes tab when looking at the meeting details page in teams. They do have the pencil and paper icon shown below the date,

but when they click it, nothing happens. This issue is also not isolated to one meeting - it appears to be an issue on all their recent meetings. We tried on another computer as well as in the browser - we can't seem to get the Meeting Notes tab to appear on the meetings details page.

The only way we can open the notes is by searching for the chat associated with the meeting. The meeting notes tab is visible there and we can open the notes with no issue.

We have already tried clearing the Teams cache, reinstalled Teams as well, and repaired Office.  Additionally, I verified the "Microsoft Teams Data" folder and wiki folder existed in the users OneDrive and that all looks good. There is no issue opening the content, just a missing meeting notes tab.

To me, it seems like the issue is either with the Wiki app or something on the Account / policy level. Since the problem follows them to the browser and to different computers. I'm not sure what setting would control if notes show up or not in the meeting details.

I May need to submit an MS ticket but wanted to check here first :)

*****UPDATE 11/17/2022******

Update for future onlookers - After meeting with Microsoft support, it appears to be a bug related to a new feature that will utilize OneNote for the meeting notes and depreciate Wiki Meeting notes. This has not been released but above is showcasing some behavior of this new feature. MS Support is supplying details back to the production team and will follow up with any information.

More details on the impact of this issue - it seems a few users in our organization are experiencing this and the issue can also appear intermittently

*****UPDATE 11/18/2022******

This may be different depending on your organization - but lone behold I guess this a planned change that was mentioned in Message ID: MC440117. What doesn't make sense is how only a few users received this new behavior, but I guess it could depend on if you remember how it was before. This is also referenced in their new support page Take meeting notes in Teams - Microsoft Support

Update sent by Microsoft:

(Updated) Microsoft Teams: Teams Calendar Now Includes Scheduling Form Pop-Outs

MC440117 · Published Sep 28, 2022 · Last updated Oct 6, 2022Tag NEW FEATURE USER IMPACT

Message Summary

Updated October 06, 2022: We have updated the content below with additional information. Thank you for your patience.

We will be releasing a new feature in Microsoft Teams that will now enable users to pop out the scheduling form as a separate window.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 99197

When this will happen:

We will begin rolling out in mid-October and expect rollout to be completed by late November.

How this will affect your organization:

Currently, users have to switch back-and-forth between apps to multi-task in Microsoft Teams' calendar. As a first step towards solving scheduling issues without data/context getting lost between app navigation, we have created a feature for the scheduling form to be popped out as a separate window.

Users will see the new scheduling form window while creating a new meeting.

Existing meetings can also now be popped out by clicking on the icon on the scheduling form.

With this Calendar Release, the Meeting Notes Tab from the scheduling form of meeting invite has been removed. However, users can still access meeting notes tab in the header of meeting chat.

Users will now be able to see additional meeting templates in the drop-down. These templates will be visible only when admin creates them through the Teams admin center.

We understand that our user's focus is more inclined towards today and tomorrow's events when on calendar (for week and workweek view). With this release, today and tomorrow will have more room within the calendar grid compared to other days.

What you need to do to prepare:

This feature will be updated automatically and there is no action needed from you at this time. You may want to notify your customers and update any relevant training documentation as appropriate.

Just stumbled on this. So, Microsoft had depreciated the Wiki Notes and any past notes you have created will be archived and downloaded. They suggest using OneNote instead.

    1. Open a Teams meeting which has your created notes.
    2. Click on the "+" and then click on "Manage your apps" at the bottom left side of the window.
    3. A banner will appear to mention to download your notes to a .mht file.
    4. Now to view your notes, go into your Download folder and rename the .mht to .html.
    5. Open the html file in either Edge or Chrome, copy and paste to OneNote or a Word document.

I actually finally figured this out, almost by accident today.

    • Go into your Meeting on Teams and start it up like you're going to meet.
    • At the top you should see a Notes button - click that and an area opens up on the right-hand side of the screen for Meeting Notes.
    • To the right of your avatar in the Notes area, click the three dots to open the menu
    • Select Open in browser from the menu
    • When the Meeting Notes open in your browser, look at the menu on the left-hand side of the screen and select My Content
    • This should open a window with all your MS Teams linked content and that was where I found my Meeting Notes titled with the name of the meeting and in .eml form
    • I was able to download this file and open it in Outlook, copy and paste the content into a Word document and go from there.

I will absolutely NOT be using the Meeting Notes functionality since this has proven to be an unstable feature in Teams.
