Why is MS Teams jumping to a different chat than the one I chose to be in?

I've updated to the most recent version, and it is still having the same issue, especially when you try to send a gif, emoji, or sticker. It's been going on for at least 6 months now and none of the updates have addressed this issue. MSFT needs to get on this ASAP, as it is a security risk.

Same for me and my organization. None of the suggested fixes have worked for us either.

So, I believe this is by design, I have been able to recreate it every time. It looks like they are using the first letter of a person's name as a "shortcut" key to take you to their chat. For example, if you are chatting with someone and go to a Teams channel and then back to chat, if you don't put your cursor in the chat field for that person or actually click on their name in your chat list it will "jump" you to the next person in your chat list that starts with the first letter you type. This is a very annoying "feature" if you ask me.

This exact thing happened to me the other day, thought I was messaging the IT team when I was messaging a client!

Embarrassing

Same in my company. Beyond unprofessional - in some organizations, having this happen could mean termination.

The 'old' teams was fine but they insisted on rebadging this thing and ever since the 'new' teams, this software has been progressively worse with each release ime.

It seems when I try signing in to that community that I have to justify to my workplace why I need 'this app'. I wasn't aware it required an app. Seems I may have to leave it for someone else to publish my issue there. As evidenced by all the replies, this is a common issue/problem/flaw that many people are experiencing.
