Why is it that when I start up Teams it automatically opens up my Chats first?

I have my Microsoft Teams set to open up automatically when my computer starts, however, whenever it starts up the 'Chat' tab is always showing first. How can I make it so that the 'Teams' tab is what's shown when it first opens up. This is ever since switching to the new version.

Thanks!

Our organization is on Windows 10 enterprise from early 2022, in the NEW MS Teams (v. 24060.2623.2790.8046) I do not see an "Application" section under Settings > General.

As one commenter suggested I did try unpinning and repinning the Teams tab, then soft restarting the application (didn't check if it was still running in the background, didn't do a full reboot), but that didn't fix it. That suggestion sounded like something a Microsoft team would do to meet a release deadline :)

I agree that I don't want to default to the private chats as the first screen, at that point I'm just sending emails in a different way and might as well be in Outlook. I do want the public teams tab to be the default please, and a configuration setting so different people can choose to work differently.

    Hey Mircosoft,

Please update Teams to allow the default tab to be selected by the user. It is very annoying to have my chats pop up by default, I would prefer that I could set it to open straight to the Calander. This would be more useful, and also more beneficial to my privacy as I usually keep the teams Calander on my third screen.

You know what the saddest part is? The fact that I need to open "Chat" at startup, but it opens "Teams". Others have it the other way around. Microsoft has screwed up their product again and in 6 months is unable to fix such a small thing.

I have the same problem in Windows, so it's not that. It's just one more annoying "feature" of the New Teams. My best guess is that the original solution was applicable to the Classic version (no longer available), because my screen looks exactly like yours and OP's.
