How do I prevent the "Your microphone is muted" message?

There is a previous issue with the same title but no solution seems to be in place.

During a meeting it is good practice to mute yourself unless you have to step into the conversation. When on mute this annoying message "Your microphone is muted" pops over and over again, blocking the view to participants and/or shared screen.

The proposed workarounds are not a practical solution since they imply to be fumbling around the devices settings again and again, so this is an issue I believe should be addressed as soon as possible. A simple banner in the interface with a crossed microphone would be far better than this and for sure far less anoying.

Thank you for your time.

I have the same issue - very annoying!

Indhurani, your response does not address the issue. The only options for customizing notifications do not address this specific notification. In the settings for "Meetings and Calls" the only options are to

    • "Mute notifications during meetings and calls" toggle on/off. NOTE: Even if this is toggled to the "Off" position, the "Your microphone is muted" message pops up incessantly!
    • "Meeting started notification" dropdown for Banner or other options.
    • "Meeting chat notifications" dropdown for Mute until I join, etc.

If MS Teams does not have a solution for this, they should add one!!

Hello Nuno, My name is Indhurani, I'll be happy to help you today

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with the persistent "Your microphone is muted" message during Microsoft Teams meetings. Unfortunately, there is no built-in solution to disable or modify this message in Teams at the moment. However, there are a few workarounds that you can try to make the message less obtrusive:

    > Use keyboard shortcuts to mute/unmute yourself. By using keyboard shortcuts to mute or unmute your microphone, you can avoid clicking the mute button, which triggers the message. For instance, in Windows, you can press Ctrl+Shift+M to toggle your microphone on and off.

    > Minimize the Teams window or switch to a different app. The message is only shown in the Teams window, so if you minimize the window or switch to another app during the meeting, you won't see the message.

    > Customize your notification settings. You can customize your notification settings in Teams to make the message less intrusive. For instance, you can turn off banner notifications or change the position of the notification to make it less obstructive.

Also, I would suggest submitting feedback through the Teams app by selecting Help at the bottom lower-left of Teams and then choosing to Suggest a feature or Give feedback to tell us what you think. So that they can include the additional features that you want to see in future releases.

Hope it helps you. Please let me know if you still need further assistance.

    Regards,
