Microsoft Teams Copying Name, Timestamp, and Message

I used to be able to copy a series of teams messages and it would include the Username, timestamp and the message, but now it only includes the message. I did not change anything about the way I'm copying. I need to be able to copy and paste this data for my work. I have already deleted the MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe file to clear cache, and I've reset and repaired the app. I have had no luck in getting this ability back. We should have the choice of including this data in clipboard or not.

    Based on your description regarding "Microsoft Teams Copying Name, Timestamp, and Message". My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this might be causing you, after thorough testing, I reproduced your issue at my side. It could be Microsoft changed something at backend. I will report it to replated team. The Workaround I found is to hold mouse for selecting the message with Time and sender you want then use CTRL+C for copy and CTRL+V for paste while you are still holding mouse. Therefore, I will update this thread as soon as I get more detail information about the query and fix.

    Also, if you have the organization admin permission, you can also raise a service request to report this symptom to our online channel through the O365 admin center. A support agent can further connect with you remotely, for further troubleshooting and involve the backend team where need be. Get support for Microsoft 365 for business -- Online support. I will also revert back when I get more info on this. Your patience and cooperation are much appreciated. Have a nice day!

    A slightly different version of the workaround mentioned is what works for me, though it is a bit more labor-intensive. I can do a regular Copy and Paste using the mouse - of just the name and time stamp. Then I can do a regular Copy and Paste of the message. Wash, rinse, repeat. Tedious if it's a long message chain... Hope this helps somebody.

    Yes. This is pretty much what we all have been saying at this point. So, don't complain, VOTE!!!

    As MarkusR posted, please make sure you, or anyone reading this, votes to have Microsoft reinstate the option to capture the name, date, and time when copying a post.
    As of March 31, 2025, the vote was 469. Over 100 people have voted to have this restored in the last month. Make sure you do also.
    Maybe if we get this up to thousands of votes, Microsoft will listen to us.
