Microsoft Teams File Upload Doesn't Have Replace File Option

The other day my Microsoft Teams application was no longer giving me the option to "Replace Existing File" with a new version if the files had the same name. Instead Teams was automatically renaming the uploaded file or allowing me the option to share the older copy. How do I revert my settings back to giving me the option to "Replace Existing File"?

According to your description, I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the file upload feature in Microsoft Teams. Currently, there is no option to revert the settings back to the previous behavior of allowing you to replace an existing file with a new version.

This is a recent change that was made to improve the security and integrity of files in Teams.

    We really need this back as it's creating issues and confusion in our workflows. Our process names the files with trip numbers for our drivers. Our drivers reference these numbers on other documents. If we end up having to replace one of the documents and it already exists, teams will now automatically add a number. The end users/drivers who look at this number, they will reference that new number in their documents, which will cause miss-match on the way back into our system within the other system that originally created the document.

    The decision to remove the "Replace" function is a very bad one for workflow. The files I create for my job have a part number assigned to them. Any revision now means the part numbers are messed up. Sometimes I can go to the hassle of finding the old file in "Files" and deleting it, but often I don't even have the option listed to delete it. Now my file numbering system is shot. I can't understand the decision to remove this option. And the renaming that Teams does automatically is nonsense half the time so it's not even a simple method of adding an increasing number to the end of the file name. Very bad!

    It's getting to the point that if I want to get any consistent, organized work done, I need to do it outside of Teams. Great way to build in obsolescence to your product.

    The option to replace what exists is dire to our Data Management System. It needs to be fixed to function as before. Change the message to allow us to replace what is already there. We have to change our SOP every time you change things like this. Please stop changing things that we use on a daily basis. PLEASE???
