Microsoft Teams File Upload Doesn't Have Replace File Option

The other day my Microsoft Teams application was no longer giving me the option to "Replace Existing File" with a new version if the files had the same name. Instead Teams was automatically renaming the uploaded file or allowing me the option to share the older copy. How do I revert my settings back to giving me the option to "Replace Existing File"?

According to your description, I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the file upload feature in Microsoft Teams. Currently, there is no option to revert the settings back to the previous behavior of allowing you to replace an existing file with a new version.

This is a recent change that was made to improve the security and integrity of files in Teams.

    This is an undesirable update. Earlier mechanism in which we were asked if we wanted to replace or make a new file, was better.

    Infact an option to delete redundant files would have been better, so that only the latest files are in the chat.

    Hello... Alex... Microsoft... Are you there???

    Not one single person has said they like this change you made. Everyone has said it's horrible and is destroying their work flow and productivity. People are looking for other solutions and leaving the use of Teams for sharing documents because of this. What else do you need to know to understand that removing the "Replace" ability was a horrible decision?

    This typical Microsoft move of saying "Well,... we own the market so we will do whatever we want and you just need to get used to it", is getting old. I will be taking my team away from your product if you can't get this fixed. There are other options.

    5 months ago, on Nov 2nd of last year (2023), you said "we will update this thread shortly"... any plans to do that? A follow-up message of either "It's going to be fixed" or "No, we will never fix it", would be helpful to know.
