Microsoft Teams File Upload Doesn't Have Replace File Option

The other day my Microsoft Teams application was no longer giving me the option to "Replace Existing File" with a new version if the files had the same name. Instead Teams was automatically renaming the uploaded file or allowing me the option to share the older copy. How do I revert my settings back to giving me the option to "Replace Existing File"?

According to your description, I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the file upload feature in Microsoft Teams. Currently, there is no option to revert the settings back to the previous behavior of allowing you to replace an existing file with a new version.

This is a recent change that was made to improve the security and integrity of files in Teams.

    We need a real solution to this. Ultimately, reverting it to the previous behavior. I almost across the board chose to replace the file every time sending someone something because it has changed since the last time and now I have to either find and delete the old file first, or tell them to delete the dumb number that was appended on it because I couldn't just choose to replace the old file that's not relevant anymore. This was a terrible decision and should be reverted ASAP. I call complete BS on security as a justification. All this change did was make my workflow more difficult.

    Absolutely disgraceful. Even trying to delete the original file has gone. Whoever approved of this change needs to get their head sorted.

    Return the ability to either:

    Update the file

    or

    Delete the original file

    Its useless - I don't think they care!

    I stopped using teams altogether a month or so ago and just email links to a dropbox folder now (much easier)

    Same here. I use Dropbox for files now as well. Maybe Microsoft has plans to buy Dropbox. Don't know why else they would break Teams.
