With the recent update to Teams the spellchecker is not working correctly. It will show the misspelled word but when you click on it there is no longer a suggested spelling popping up. We (Several in the company) have noticed this on the latest update to the following version, Microsoft Teams Version 1.6.00.21970 (64-bit).
I have already gone in and deleted the setting.json file, that will work for a short time 10-20 minutes then back to not given a suggestion.

I tested if we use the pop out feature and chat in a seperate window spellchecker will work as intended it appear to be the same issue as posted before.

I can happily say that my spell check has been working consistently for several weeks now. What I did was use the script code I posted earlier to wipe out some files, but I suspect that the most recent update is what actually fixed my issue.
Hi, any update on this issue? In my company, I can now use just new Teams where the Spell check for non-English languages doesn't work correctly. In classic Teams, it works very well, so it is really a shame that I don't have the same great functionality in new Teams.
I just tried the following but did not work
Settings >> Disable spell check
Restart Teams.
Settings >> enable spell check
Restart Teams.
Close Teams
Clear Teams cache located in %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
I ended up navigating to portal.office.com and Teams on the web had a working spell check
Downloaded and installed desktop version, asked me if I wanted to use NEW or CLASSIC, selected classic
Spell check is now working.
It seems the upgraded teams have an issue with auto spell check and show recommendation. I have switched it back to old teams and it worked.
