New Teams is not allowing Outlook to display contact status.
If I turn Off "Try the new Teams" and go back to old Teams, then Outlook starts showing contact status.

Here is a potential fix. From the below article about fixing Presence in Outlook it mentions to manually set the registry to "Teams"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers

  • Name: DefaultIMApp
  • Type: REG_SZ
  • Data: Teams

Check your registry, but in my case, I has two entries under IM Providers, so I changed the Data from 'Teams' to 'MsTeams' and that fixed the problem.

I got presence/status working with Outlook 365 (not the new version).

In Teams I had to click on my picture/account in the top right and then click "Sign Out". Then when I signed back into Teams my status started working.

    Hi! This check box within Teams originally fixed the issue for me, thank you for that. But yesterday (9-10-24) I started noticing issues with the contact status not showing up within Outlook 365 again. I have new Microsoft Teams (v. 24215.1007.3082.1590) and Outlook 365 V2402 Build 16.0.17328.20550) 64-bit. I have also previously had success following the steps outlined https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/teams-im-presence/issues-with-presence-in-outlook?tabs=64  - This also isn't working, following all the steps. Including uninstalling Teams and re-installing. Anyone else notice issues again? Thanks!

    Seeing the same in our environment.

    Outlook: Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2407 Build 16.0.17830.20210) 32-bit (Monthly Enterprise Channel)

    Teams: 24215.1007.3082.1590. Client version: 49/24080212011.

    Previous steps noted have not resolved the issue.
