New Teams is not allowing Outlook to display contact status.
If I turn Off "Try the new Teams" and go back to old Teams, then Outlook starts showing contact status.

Here is a potential fix. From the below article about fixing Presence in Outlook it mentions to manually set the registry to "Teams"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers

  • Name: DefaultIMApp
  • Type: REG_SZ
  • Data: Teams

Check your registry, but in my case, I has two entries under IM Providers, so I changed the Data from 'Teams' to 'MsTeams' and that fixed the problem.

I got presence/status working with Outlook 365 (not the new version).

In Teams I had to click on my picture/account in the top right and then click "Sign Out". Then when I signed back into Teams my status started working.

In my case, the referenced link helped me to identify the exact teams architecture. The registry values & tlb file names identified the precise architecture (X86/X64).
From that I could identify on my 32 bit office 64 bit teams new has got installed and this difference is not allowing presence addin to work correctly.

Teams classic was 32 bit or 64 bit, I could not confirm & all other registries are intact on system, so that did not fixed my issue.
The last option I proceed was -

    I repaired office online mode.
I un-installed teams classic machine wide & then from user profile un-installed teams classic updates.
I downloaded teams bootstrapper and 32 bit teams new msix

I un-installed teams new with bootstraper uninstall command

After a restart to the system, I installed new teams 32 bit with bootstrapper command

    I had the similar issue.

It was fixed after installing the 'New Outlook'. New Teams is now in sync with New Outlook.
