Why is when i use the "New" teams, my taskbar doesnt show status just says "new"

Trying the New teams, instead of my taskbar showing me a checkmark or away status. the taskbar teams just says "New"

    This is simply not true. The "New" tag is because we're using the new Teams... and it's awful. An App's icon should not be a ad space, I just want to know what app I'm using. Please MS, get rid of this!

    For me the solution was to completely remove all Teams installations via Settings - Apps - Installed apps. So remove Microsoft Teams, Teams for work and school, Teams Office integration, Teams Machine wide installer, Classic teams, etc.

    Then I downloaded the latest x64 client for work and school here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/download-app

    Installed it, and immediately it started to work.

    You have Microsoft Teams version 24033.811.2738.2546. You've got the latest version. It was last updated on 14-3-2024.The client version is 49/24020205514.

    For me changing the taskbar icons back to large resolved the issue. When using small taskbar icons it shows "New", when using large taskbar icons, it shows the status.

    The only time I've seen it change is when I missed a call or a chat, then it shows red.

    Just a thought but it is worth checking in Taskbar settings that "Show badges on taskbar buttons" is enabled
