Why is when i use the "New" teams, my taskbar doesnt show status just says "new"

Hi Dylan and All,

I had the same issue this morning when my teams app updated to the NEW platform. After several trial and errors, I was able to get the # of messages on my taskbar icon!

You will need to uninstall the old teams app (classic version) and make sure you also have "Register the new Teams as the chat app for Microsoft 365 (requires restarting Microsoft 365 applications)" as Brooke mentioned! This also fixed my issue of not seeing statuses within outlook when responding to emails.

I still cannot update my status from taskbar icon and the NEW label is there, but I can now at least see the number of messages I have to respond too. I hope this helps!

This is not correct. The "New" flag indicates that it's "new Teams", not that you have a new message.

Trying the New teams, instead of my taskbar showing me a checkmark or away status. the taskbar teams just says "New"

I also confirmed the article he posed was legit and the problem is being worked on currently.

Only Microsoft can do this and get away with it.
