Organize chats

Until chats have the same functionality as Slack, I will continue to be bitter about being forced to use Teams.

What makes Slack better?

Organized chats -> Need ability to create groups. Plus I want my chats to stay in the order I set, I don't need newest to top, I need them to stay in the same place so I know where to find. Don't make me do a search each time, that's annoying.

Easier to read -> Slack is so much easier to read than Teams. Use of bold fonts, larger font size, larger image, large status icons, more status icons, all left-aligned. Being able to really see what my team is doing is important, not just if they are busy or not, we have very quick turnarounds/deadlines and need to be more specific about our status.

Filters -> It resets every time!! Super annoying!

I agree with everyone in this post. The lack of ability to organize chat conversations outside of pinned/unpinned is very frustrating.

I work for an enterprise organization, and I chat with multiple stakeholders throughout the day on a 1:1 basis as well as 1:many. I create chat sessions, as well as other members of my company who create chats based on a specific need and it's complex to stay organized.

Here's why I think the ability to organize and group chat sessions is important:

We often start a group chat and discuss objectives with a bigger group (10+) of people,

Then we create several smaller chats with a subset of people from the larger chat that will actually be doing the work.

We break out chats even more granularly because some colleagues are responsible for a specific outcome, while others are responsible for a different outcome and it doesn't make sense to flood everyone's chat screen with messages not relevant to them...

To make a long story short, the need to organize several chat conversations for an initiative is a basic function with most other chat tools, no idea why Teams has struggled with this for years. Get ahold of yourselves Microsoft and fix this issue...

Sadly I'm not able to activate the Public Preview so I can't try it out yet, but if anyone on this very old chat thread does try it then I'd love to know how its going and can't wait for it to make it in to the live version.

I'm hoping for the same thing. Have clients and multiple work groups within our company that need to be organized. It's a long scrolling thru both the Chats and the hundreds of Teams my company has to find anything. Even the filter feature is bad if I don't recall the name/spelling of the person/team. Needs a feature update!! It's very clunky to work in. I also have Webex teams and it's the same issues there although there it's just people and chats, not groups with channels and documents.

This requested functionality, to organize chats, to group them by custom label, is something that is present with almost all existing chat applications that other companies use, like slack for example, or google chat....even discord has this for like a decade.

Please get this feature up soon, since 15 pinned chats is not working for any company that has above 4-5 people.
