Organize chats

Sadly I'm not able to activate the Public Preview so I can't try it out yet, but if anyone on this very old chat thread does try it then I'd love to know how its going and can't wait for it to make it in to the live version.

I agree with everyone in this post. The lack of ability to organize chat conversations outside of pinned/unpinned is very frustrating.

I work for an enterprise organization, and I chat with multiple stakeholders throughout the day on a 1:1 basis as well as 1:many. I create chat sessions, as well as other members of my company who create chats based on a specific need and it's complex to stay organized.

Here's why I think the ability to organize and group chat sessions is important:

We often start a group chat and discuss objectives with a bigger group (10+) of people,

Then we create several smaller chats with a subset of people from the larger chat that will actually be doing the work.

We break out chats even more granularly because some colleagues are responsible for a specific outcome, while others are responsible for a different outcome and it doesn't make sense to flood everyone's chat screen with messages not relevant to them...

To make a long story short, the need to organize several chat conversations for an initiative is a basic function with most other chat tools, no idea why Teams has struggled with this for years. Get ahold of yourselves Microsoft and fix this issue...

Until chats have the same functionality as Slack, I will continue to be bitter about being forced to use Teams.

What makes Slack better?

Organized chats -> Need ability to create groups. Plus I want my chats to stay in the order I set, I don't need newest to top, I need them to stay in the same place so I know where to find. Don't make me do a search each time, that's annoying.

Easier to read -> Slack is so much easier to read than Teams. Use of bold fonts, larger font size, larger image, large status icons, more status icons, all left-aligned. Being able to really see what my team is doing is important, not just if they are busy or not, we have very quick turnarounds/deadlines and need to be more specific about our status.

Filters -> It resets every time!! Super annoying!

Yes, this is definitely a feature that I need. Just having Pinned and Recent isn't cutting it any longer.

I would like to group individual chats into logical groups -> Project X, Project Y, Customer A, Customer B etc.

It doesn't seem like a difficult thing to implement?!

SPECIFICALLY THIS! My organization is forcing us over to Teams from Mattermost and man oh man...... we hate it. I had everyone organized by what team they were on within our organization so I could easily find and categorize everyone. This is impossible on Teams. PLEASE add this functionality already, it has to be one of the top requested additions easily. It's insane this has yet to be implemented.
