I am not able to copy and paste Teams message with Time and sender name

Thanks for sharing, Jessica. That's new to me, too. A bit tedious, but better than nothing.

As of the latest update, 'holding the mouse while using shortcuts to copy' no longer works. Is there another way now to include the time stamps?

The removal of the Date-time and user name also affected me very much..

The workaround which was provided previously by other users here (Thanks) (holding mouse button and then pressing Ctrl+C) no longer worked starting version 25017.203.3370.1174.

I was a silent user watching this problem from far, I decided to sign-in to just to chirp in on one workaround I found by accident...

Procedure:

• On the chat..

• Click out of the typing field box,

• Press Ctrl+A

• Press Ctrl+C

This copies the entire chat until the last Hidden texts..

From there, I trim and format it with NP++ by finding "Today" and formatting from there..

I know it is still a "around-the head solution" and has too much garbage data..

It is a pity that Microsoft took a post from 1 person with 15 votes and removed a logical thing.. They should've weighed in the use-case scenario across the world (which I firmly believe requires the date-time and user fields for their daily work). This basically is telling about the type of people they have at work over there.

Perhaps someone can take this idea further into a VBA that does this all from start to end without manual intervention

How to use:

• Copy paste the text dump to a text editor of your choice, trim out all previous conversation to the top which is not necessary for you.

• Copy this ↥ shorter conversation
• Paste the text conversation in Cell A7(Under the "Input" header), this way the conversation texts occupy one cell per row..

• At Cell B2, type the full name of the person you are speaking to, (as appearing on the teams chat).

• At Cell C2, type your full name, (as appearing on the teams chat).

• Use slicer to exclude 0 (Zero) and [] (Double square brackets) from the table

• The texts from G7 (under "Output" header) to the bottom are you conversations in a bit readable format..

General note:

I use 24Hour clock, so there is a possibility that this might not work for the people preferring 12H format.

again, this is just a Excel spreadsheet with formulas, feel free to download and change it as per your needs..

only way i've found is to go to Teams in a web browser and copy from there (using that terrible workaround) -- and, that quit working for a while yesterday, but then it started working again - not sure what MS is doing, but ...
