I am often working in other windows but have a lot of teams messages that I need to address. This results in my sending meaningless messages accidentally when I hit ENTER thinking I am in a different window but I am really in teams. How do I by default prevent the ENTER button from sending a message?

The ENYTER key is right next to the DELETE (backspace) key on my laptop. I keep sending when I want to delete. Must be able to stop "Enter" sending message on Whatsapp.
No, I wouldn't advise it because this is what I started doing and then that became a habbit that caused problems in other applications.
But that means you have to use the mouse or pad and move it to the icon and how does it resolve the problem?
Some people type with both hands and pretty fast too. That might be OK with single word communication but if you are going to "Chat", you probably have something a bit more complext that you need to convey specially at the begining. So, that is just not a solution anyway. I am sure those of us who have joined this thread (around 130 now) know how to can use a mouse/pad. But you are almost there if you would just see the problem properly.
The only other way of seperating paragraphs or creating a list is alt^Enter which then become a habbit and causes problems elsewhere like in some apps or sites soft returns are ignored or Alt is used for some other function especially in keyboards other than English. There are still quite a few of them around.
I never thought this would take such a longtime to fix. Surely, you need to include it in settings. Those who want to use ENTER as SEND then they can just carry on. Those in whose style ENTER and SEND don't mean the same thing can then disable ENTER and then use the mouse to click on SEND which is just common sense or another key combinationation that the user can assign. I have had to do the same using marco and keboard rearrangment software. But it should not have been necessary if the designers had respect for users.
I get the feeling that programmers who designed this don't want to see this as a design flow and are being unnecessarly obtuse.
This is crazy. Some one from the top should intravene. Even if it meanse redesigning the interface from scratch the problem needs to be addressed. Just messing around or suggesting users' ways of getting around it is not professional. It is just being silly.
Meanwhile I keep getting notification of a REPLY when non of them are worth even checking. Why frustrate users, just change the design.
yes, a setting like "send message with CTRL Enter" as it is standard in other applications would be fine!
They don't even have to go that far. Just make ENTER=SEND optional.
Why ENTER should mean SEND anyway?
It has always been associated with a new line even from typewriter eras.
