How To Prevent Enter Key From Sending Chat Message

I agree with you 100%. It just bothers me that their programmers can be so narrow minded. A toggle in settings is so easy.

I remember my computer programming professor telling me that a good programmer would never make such a mistake and should never be hired if they do. I guess Microsoft scrape the barrel when they're hiring.

It's nice to have active 'press enter' to send message, and for typing at next line shift + enter.

Teams is hands down the worst communications app. Why can't you just copy the UX of Slack or Discord? Both of those are successful and provide good set of features. Among the infinite list of UX issues, why is it that the <Return> key is sometimes sends the message, sometimes starts a new line. I constantly have to juggle around bullet-lists, starting new bullet but then accidentally sends the message and then I either have to delete it or edit it.

...and of all the bad things, you constantly chose to do marginal, unnecessary little UI updates and tunes.

btw the entire MS office toolkit unbelievable bad to use, at least you could copy the UX of competitors and it would be much better, you don't need to reinvent the wheel.

Everyone knows how to enter a soft return except maybe you but that is not an answer.

I used to do that. The problem is that it is not always possible and then the habit becomes a problem elsewhere.

One could assign a macro to another key (pressing a function key would be like a soft return) but what is really required is something like an addon that recognizes the site ChatGPT and blocks the return key. It probably needs some low-level trick that might turn out to be device-specific. I don't write code anymore but if there isn't a solution within Windows then this is the only way.

However, given that CharGPT is "partly" owned by Microsoft I thought maybe the message will be passed on to them since they don't seem to pay attention to any direct questions made to them.

Apart from that, I think since Microsoft has taken over they must have changed the system and put in more control because the responses have changed and sound like a nanny always accompanied with motherly advice and avoids answering questions that might potentially lead to copyright fringes or health risks.

Here we were worried about AI. It is already monopolized and not made available to the public. Shame.

I explained why I didn't follow your suggestions. It has been a while since I looked up the issues discussed. At the time I had looked them up. I even asked the ChatGPT helpline.

Later on, I noticed a relevant discussion in GitHub. But surely, you must be aware that things change and events are not synched to suit one person, don't you?
