replacing close/min/max buttons when screen sharing on macos?

why does teams now replace the normal close / min / max buttons on macos:

with:

when sharing your desktop (or window).

this is the same icon that is shown in the notification bar when screen sharing, but annoyingly replaces the window chrome... and teams is the only application to do this.

OBS studio (which records / captures the desktop) does not do this.

Zoom does not do this...

only microsoft.

why?

please remove this annoyance.

    I apologize for the delay in addressing this issue. We understand how frustrating it is when software changes disrupt your workflow.

    The fix for this issue will reach all Teams users by the end of February.

    and here it is... the end of March with no "fix" anywhere to be seen...

    good thing we've been conditioned over decades, never to hold our breath on getting useful "updates" from microsoft. VMs that spin up and tear down for 2 minute regression tests of software builds take an hour to install massive "windows defender" and other "security" patches even when maintenance is done monthly to VM images to keep them current with latest updates... while corporate software forced upon us with obvious flaws go ages without being fixed, even though fixes are supposedly in queue.

    stereotypically sad.

    I apologize for the delay in addressing this issue. We understand how frustrating it is when software changes disrupt your workflow.

    The fix for this issue will reach all Teams users by the end of February. This will address the problem with the close, minimize, and maximize buttons being replaced during screen sharing on macOS. Note that if you share a specific window (instead of the whole screen), that specific window will still have the new sharing icon/button. This is because Apple wants it to be super clear what window is being shared.The fact that this showed up on all windows for a period of time was due to a bug resulting from changes in the underlying macOS API. The fix is now making its way to you.
