Green Artifacts When Viewing Shared Screens in Teams

We have a few users who have been seeing green artifacts during Teams Meetings. This will happen at the same time that someone is presenting.

Specs of Laptop:

Dell Latitude 5550

Intel Core Ultra 5 135U vPro

Intel Iris Xe Graphics

32GB RAM

512GB SSD

Things we have tried to remedy this:

  1. Run Teams in Compatibility mode
  2. Update to the newest Intel Arc/Iris Xe Driver
  3. Update to a different Intel WHQL Arc/Iris Xe Driver
  4. Uninstall and Reinstall Teams
  5. Tried using Teams in the browser

Any insight would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Just an update from our side. For our 2 Dell Latitude 7350 devices (with Intel Core Ultra CPUs) the issue is still "resolved" as well.

But also by using an Intel driver version from before this issue has been first reported.

In our case the Intel Graphics driver 32.0.101.6078 works without issues (as described in our last post on page 3 back in February).

The annoying thing is that this driver version is not available on Intel's download page anymore. (Although we do have an internal backup just in case.)

We did not try any newer Intel driver versions since then as we have not seen any changelog entry that would suggest a fix to this issue. Interestingly though, the issue is also not listed under known issues...

Anyway, if anyone currently still has the issue with green artifacts, Dell provides a download to this driver version which you can try as well if you want:

    https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER12216702M/1/Intel-UHD-Iris-Xe-Graphics-Driver-and-Intel-Graphics_34G3T_WIN64_32.0.101.6078_A17.EXE

Use "Extract" on the Dell setup to get the Intel installer. (Although the Dell setup seems to just run the Intel installer anyway.)

As for the installation process, it should be sufficient to:

    • Uninstall "Intel(R) Graphics Software & Drivers" from the "Apps" list, followed by a device restart. (Remove all listed components which should be default.)
    • Start the (extracted) Intel installer via "Installer.exe".
    • Check the "Execute a clean installation" option before confirming the installation.

Note: As already mentioned by @apokaluptikos 2 posts above, DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) can help removing any remaining Intel drivers. Alternatively uninstall any remnants via device manager. For this workaround it is essential that no newer Intel Graphics driver versions are being used. In our case, it was not necessary as the Intel installer removed all driver versions without issues.

    What to be aware of:

We are using software deployment for Windows and driver updates, meaning automatic Windows Updates are disabled. So we do not have any issues with the old Intel driver getting overwritten by a newer version. If you have to rely on automatic Windows Updates then the issue might reappear quite fast in case that a newer Intel Graphics driver version than 32.0.101.6078 is already getting deployed by it automatically.

And of course: No guarantee that this will resolve the issue. We can only say that it resolved the issue on our 2 Dell Latitude 7350 devices.

Hi. Thanks for your reply / assistance. I was able to download the DDU program, but am not able to find / download that specific Intel driver version you mentioned for an HP. The link you provided is for a Dell driver ... I'm not sure if that is specific to Dell or not or would work on an HP.

Doing various searches for that specific Intel driver version just gets me to the Intel Arc driver page, which they don't even provide drivers back that far. Their oldest driver listed on the site is still a 32. version. Even when I go to the driver page for our HP laptops, it doesn't go back to the 31. version timeframe.

I will try running the DDU program as you suggested and then try the 31.0.101.5382 driver install package from the Dell site, but not sure it will work on our HPs.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

For us the issue has been resolved, we installed the below version of Intel video drivers.

In some cases we did have to run the DDU to blow away all video drivers. See below for instructions.

Please ensure you download the driver first, as you'll need to disconnect your laptop from the internet before using DDU. Download the latest driver from Dell using this link, and download the latest one from Intel as well.

    1. DownloadDisplay Driver Uninstaller (DDU)< software and extract the file.
    2. OpenDDU ****.exe and run extract program.
    3. Rebootinto Windows* safe mode. (Refer to Start your PC in safe mode in Windows.)
    4. Go to the DDU extractpath and double-clickthe Display Driver Uninstaller.exe to open DDU.
    5. Click Close in the Options window.
    6. Selectdevice type toGPU and selectdevice to INTEL.
    7. Click Clean and restartor Clean and Shutdown depending on your needs
    8. Waitthe software to finish the process and auto reboot Windows to the normal mode or shutdown.

It would be nice if ONE of the companies could come up with a solution to this, but I'm sure there's a lot of finger pointing. We've had several users have the green blocky screen issues for months now.

Have tried all the suggested fixes (Windows updates, DISM, SFC, download latest drivers from Intel's site ... ending in 6790 or 6793 currently ... checkdisk, etc.). Our machines are EliteBook 840 / 860 G11 with the Intel 7 Ultra processors, Intel ARC graphics.

From all the threads I've looked at, the common 'thread' does seem to be the Intel i5 / i7 Ultra processors with Intel ARC graphics. Happens on Teams AND browsers.

Thanks to everyone out there trying to fix this, and for trying all the suggested solutions so far. If I hear anything soon that works on this, I'll be glad to post it unless someone else beats me to it :)

Here's hoping one of the techs can come up with a solution soon. Have a good weekend everyone!

Yes, in the browser still the same issue.

Have you noticed if in other browsers the issue doesn´t happen?
