Teams add-in for Elgato Stream Deck not working properly

I have a problem with Teams (365 Enterprise A5 license, Teams version 1.6.00.9379, latest update available). After starting up, the buttons on my Stream Deck + (software 6.1.0.18521, firmware 2.0.3.2) are the same Teams logo with a small red lock on them (but with the custom text tag which I set for each button).

-update-

The procedure below doesn't work anymore. :(

To get the correct icons on the buttons I have to:

-Start a Teams meeting/call, at least one participant has to answer;

  • Stop the meeting after a few seconds;
  • In Teams disable the Third-Party API option;
  • Wait about 10 seconds and enable the Third-Party API option (key stays the same);
  • Start a new Teams meeting/call, at least one participant has to answer;
  • End the meeting/call after 10 seconds or more;
  • Within a few seconds the correct icons show up on the buttons, but greyed;
  • Again, start a Teams meeting/call and the buttons change to colored.

However, when a meeting/call is started and the buttons show the correct icons and change to colored, none of these buttons do anything when pressed. But when using mute or disable camera from within the Teams desktop app, the status on the buttons on the Stream Deck do change instantly according to the status in Teams.

It doesn't matter if Microsoft Teams is started at Windows startup or if you start Microsoft Teams after the Stream Deck software is loaded and active. Tested with both normal and developer/public preview mode.

Note:

I'm not affiliated with neither Microsoft nor Elgato.

    Hey there. Lately i use MS Teams for School and .... you know.
    I got the same issue with Stream Deck and the Problem is the Keybouard Language. (For me)
    I need to change the Keyboard Layout to German, to use Teams with Stream Deck.

    Last week this worked fine for me, but today i can't change the Layout anymore. I updated all Windows and other Drivers and tried starting Teams as Admin, but nothing works. I change the Language an Teams restarts, but after restart Layout still is on English US. Annoying. ^^

    Doing some more research showed there are two causes for improper functioning of the Elgato Stream Deck buttons.

    1. If you install the application and start the application directly after installing and create a profile, the application creates a profile and profile cache with incorrect privileges. This causes the application to use wrong values from the initial seettings, despite change the actual settings later on. No matter what you change in the settings, the wrong GUID is still used for connecting to the Teams API.

    To solve this, save/export your currect profile (if you have set up any), remove the Elgato application, restart the computer (important step because of the background services being removed). After restarten the computer re-install the Elgato app. Quit the application after installation or even better, restart the computer again. After restarting the computer, start the Elgato application and import your previously saved profile or create an new profile. Check your Teams API GUID code. 2. Microsoft Teams sometimes lacks the part of using the API after an update. The option to enable or disable the API in the Privacy settings is gone.

    To solve this, close the Teams application, make sure you quit the application from the system tray and not leaving it active in the background. Wait 30 seconds to finish all processes. Restart Microsoft Teams, wait for about 30 seconds and check if the API GUID is visible/available and if it matches the settings in the Elgato application.

    Sometime the Elgato background service changes the icons on the Stream Deck buttons at the moment a Teams call is made, untill then the icons show as a failed Teams connection with the Teams icon and a small lock. Tiy can force the correct icons by starting a new Temas call from your Teams Calendar and choose the button Meet Now. The correct icons then show on the buttons.

    same - although I can get it to work if I regen the api key then restart teams and elgato software. But I have to regen the api key everyday so its basically unusable. :(

    Works for Zoom though!

    Adding myself to this. Here are some additional points from my experience:

    Was loving this until I installed Teams Version 1.6.00.11166 (64-bit). (Avatars enabled) and now nothing works :(

    Have uninstalled, reinstalled, regened API key.  Nothing

    PS Running Windows 11 Home Edition, version 22H2 OS Build 22621.1631

    Hi Meener,

    It seems to be a bug.

    This issue needs to be further investigated by Microsoft product group. Unfortunately, as a community advisor (not Microsoft staff), I don't have access to the user's account, so it's difficult to further investigate this issue.

    I would suggest submitting a feedback to the support engineer team of Microsoft so that they can include this in future releases.

    https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback

    You may also refer to the Q&A forum for further assistance on this issue as there are more administrators, along with members of the Teams product team, answering questions.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/

    Unfortunately, moderators are unable to move messages to that forum, so you'll need to repost it.

    Thank you.
