Teams add-in for Elgato Stream Deck not working properly

I have a problem with Teams (365 Enterprise A5 license, Teams version 1.6.00.9379, latest update available). After starting up, the buttons on my Stream Deck + (software 6.1.0.18521, firmware 2.0.3.2) are the same Teams logo with a small red lock on them (but with the custom text tag which I set for each button).

-update-

The procedure below doesn't work anymore. :(

To get the correct icons on the buttons I have to:

-Start a Teams meeting/call, at least one participant has to answer;

  • Stop the meeting after a few seconds;
  • In Teams disable the Third-Party API option;
  • Wait about 10 seconds and enable the Third-Party API option (key stays the same);
  • Start a new Teams meeting/call, at least one participant has to answer;
  • End the meeting/call after 10 seconds or more;
  • Within a few seconds the correct icons show up on the buttons, but greyed;
  • Again, start a Teams meeting/call and the buttons change to colored.

However, when a meeting/call is started and the buttons show the correct icons and change to colored, none of these buttons do anything when pressed. But when using mute or disable camera from within the Teams desktop app, the status on the buttons on the Stream Deck do change instantly according to the status in Teams.

It doesn't matter if Microsoft Teams is started at Windows startup or if you start Microsoft Teams after the Stream Deck software is loaded and active. Tested with both normal and developer/public preview mode.

Note:

I'm not affiliated with neither Microsoft nor Elgato.

    It definitely is related to the Early Access function. I managed to get rid of my EA installation now. I did the following (macOS)

    1. moved Microsoft Teams App from my Applications folder into trash
    2. opened Finder and switched to ~/Library/Caches/ and moved com.microsoft.teams into trash
    3. switched to ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft and moved Teams into trash

    managed to use the Microsoft AutoUpdate App (if you don't have it, there's a download available on this page: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=830196[)](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/update-office-for-mac-automatically-bfd1e497-c24d-4754-92ab-910a4074d7c1%29 "support.microsoft.com") and switched my update channel to vanilla.

    Finally reinstalled Teams from the app store and logged in again.

    I had to generate an API key twice (shut down teams, elgato, rebooted) but now for the first time, the keys on the stream deck are lit up, show correct state and have an effect when pressed.

    Hopefully this plugin gets more attention by its developers so that future MS Teams versions still work!

    yup - it's indeed not related to Elgato. The hardware (and most of its software and plugins) works like a charm.
    I do think it's all related to the Microsoft plugin (and corresponding Client API).

    Has anyone a good reference for its documentation? I'd like to footprint its behavior with some simple scripts or the like...

    We bought a few Stream Decks for staff to evaluate for TEAMS meetings. none of them work for TEAMS.

    Works great for Powerpoint and ZOOM though!

    As a sys admin in an enterprise environment myself, I can check and test many things. Removing and reinstalling is the last resort. Most of the times, clearing the Teams cache solves the problems. However, the Microsoft Teams API is very unstable. Even my own developed app isn't able to connect to Teams. Not the public version, and not the developer version.

    Like many things, Microsoft announces things with a lot of bells and whistles. But after a few updates, things no longer work, no more updates and documentation is no longer updated or maintained. We've several running problems with Microsoft services which are escalated to developer teams but then communication by Microsoft stops. Only a message stating they're still looking into the problems. Unacceptable for an enterprise environment with 50k+ users.

    I seem to have lost that tick mark though :-o... just trying to reinstall.

    Since I use a company managed device, some things don't work as expected.
