Teams add-in for Elgato Stream Deck not working properly

I have a problem with Teams (365 Enterprise A5 license, Teams version 1.6.00.9379, latest update available). After starting up, the buttons on my Stream Deck + (software 6.1.0.18521, firmware 2.0.3.2) are the same Teams logo with a small red lock on them (but with the custom text tag which I set for each button).

-update-

The procedure below doesn't work anymore. :(

To get the correct icons on the buttons I have to:

-Start a Teams meeting/call, at least one participant has to answer;

  • Stop the meeting after a few seconds;
  • In Teams disable the Third-Party API option;
  • Wait about 10 seconds and enable the Third-Party API option (key stays the same);
  • Start a new Teams meeting/call, at least one participant has to answer;
  • End the meeting/call after 10 seconds or more;
  • Within a few seconds the correct icons show up on the buttons, but greyed;
  • Again, start a Teams meeting/call and the buttons change to colored.

However, when a meeting/call is started and the buttons show the correct icons and change to colored, none of these buttons do anything when pressed. But when using mute or disable camera from within the Teams desktop app, the status on the buttons on the Stream Deck do change instantly according to the status in Teams.

It doesn't matter if Microsoft Teams is started at Windows startup or if you start Microsoft Teams after the Stream Deck software is loaded and active. Tested with both normal and developer/public preview mode.

Note:

I'm not affiliated with neither Microsoft nor Elgato.

    Just retried today, and now API connection has been automated:

    1. Connect your third-party device to your desktop.
    2. Open Teams for desktop.
    3. Select Settings and more Teams settings and more icon. in the top right of Teams, then select Settings Settings button > Privacy.
    4. Select Manage APIunder the Third-party app API section.
      1. If Manage API is greyed out, an IT admin from one of the accounts you used to sign into Teams has disabled third-party device pairing.
    5. Turn on the toggle next to Enable API.
    6. Join a Teams meeting and press any button on your third-party device.
    7. You will see a window to Allowor Blocka new connection request. If the API token is empty, select Generate to generate a new one.
      1. Tapping Allow means the third-party device will pair and can interact with Teams; it will be added to the Allowed apps and devices list.
      2. Tapping Block means the device will not be allowed to interact with Teams and will be added to the Blocked apps and devices list.
      3. Remove a previously paired device by tapping Block.
      4. Re-pair a previously blocked device by tapping **Forget.**Once done, you can pair the device again.

    Have uninstalled, reinstalled, regened API key.  Nothing

    PS Running Windows 11 Home Edition, version 22H2 OS Build 22621.1631

    Yes, restarted the computer several times, with and without Teams being started f=after login. The Elgato doesn't have a power on/of optione, it's an USB-device. Unplugging, wait 30 seconds and plug back in doesn't solve the issue.

    I've removed the Teams cache folders (%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams) after quiting Teams (full quit, so not active in the system tray or background), restarted the computer, logged in, restarted Teams, logged in with 365. Still no improvements. Removed the Teams app completely, including the cache folders, restarted the computer, logged, in, reinstalled the Teams app from the latest downloadable version, logged in with 365, updated the Teams app, restarted the computer, started the Teams add, inserted the Elgato Stream Deck +, got a new API key and entered this in the Stream Deck application. No improvements.

    Also removed the Stream Deck application and repeated all steps above. Reinstalled the latest Stream Deck application, still no improvements.

    After a recent Teams update of some sort my Stream Deck stopped working as well. Thankfully in my case it turned out to be a pretty simple fix, in MS Teams under: Settings > Privacy > Third Party App API (Manage API) the Enable API toggle option was switched off. I switched it on, and confirmed that the API token still matched what I setup in the Stream Deck settings. After I unplugged the Stream Deck from my machine and plugged it back in after a moment the Teams buttons all lit back up again.

    Versions

    • MS Teams - 1.6.00.22155
    • Stream Deck - 6.3.0 (18948)

    I also have lost functions of the Stream Deck with Teams. Everything was working fine on the "classic" teams app on my windows laptop. Then i enabled public preview of the classic teams app and at some point after that it has stopped working. All i see constantly is the padlock symbol. I have tried generating new keys and putting the keys in to the button. Sometimes if I do things in the riht order - such as kill stream deck from the taskbar, Quit teams from the taskbar, then open stream deck first, then open Teams app after I will see the buttons without the padlock. But when I join a Temas meeting the buttons do nothing. They don't become brighter and they don't work when pressed.
    Also I enabled the new Teams app at some point and I wonder if this might have messed up the intergration as well somehow??
