Spell checking in multiple languages is not working in Microsoft Teams as described here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/check-your-spelling-in-multiple-languages-in-microsoft-teams-0e269374-0cac-4a22-a377-53f01e05a6d4

It has happened after the installing new Teams desktop app on my Windows 11 (details below). Setting in Teams -> Settings -> General -> Enable spell check (requires restarting Teams) is enabled and Teams was restarted.

Unfortunately clearing following directories did not solve the issue:

%temp%,

%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams

%localappdata%\SquirrelTemp,

My Teams version is:
You have Microsoft Teams version 23257.2620.2442.7817.

You've got the latest version. It was last updated on 10/17/2023.

The client version is 49/23092912307.

Hello Umar.

This is actually a Known issue for the New Teams : Language-aware spell checking is currently not available in the new Teams. The team is focusing on this issue with a high priority.

Hi TomaszOlędzki, Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I am a Microsoft user just like you, and I hope you are well.

Please note: This is a user-to-user community forum. We are users just like you who help others. We are not employees of Microsoft.

If you're facing issues with spell checking in multiple languages in Microsoft Teams, even after enabling the spell check feature and clearing certain directories, you can try the following steps to resolve the problem:

    1. Ensure that your Microsoft Teams app is up to date. Sometimes, issues with spell checking and other features are resolved in software updates.
    2. Make sure that the language you want to use is enabled in Windows. You can do this by going to Settings > Time & language > Language & region > Add a language. Once the language is added, click the Options button next to it and select Download for the Language pack and Keyboard options.
    3. Confirm that the "Enable spell check" setting is turned on in Teams -> Settings -> General, and restart Teams if necessary
    4. Switch the spell check language in Teams by writing several messages in a chat or channel in a different language to activate the language-aware spell checking automatically, or by using the Language bar to switch between languages that use different keyboard layouts
    5. If you are still having problems, you can try disabling spell check in Teams and then enabling it again. To do this, go to Settings > General and scroll down to the Language section. Under Spell check, uncheck the Enable spell check check box and then check it again.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best Regards, Umar Majeed

    Hi

Thanks for the replay Umar and all the hints. Actually already tried all of this, without success unfortunately. Either figure it out myself or found in the Internet.

Issue came after installing the latest version of Teams for Business and it's in Teams only - all multilanguage spell check works in other apps, when switching keyboard layouts.

Do you have any idea how could I report this issue to Microsoft?

    Hi Umar,

I am getting the same issue here. After I upgraded to the NEW Teams, spell checking stopped working. It is currently loading just English in the list of available languages.

Under Teams menu I only get on the General Settings to enable or disable spell checking.

On Windows Settings --> Language & Region, I have English, Spanish and Portuguese - all enabled for typing and spell checking. I don't have any issues with other apps. This is happening just with the NEW version of Teams.

    Version:

You have Microsoft Teams version 23285.3607.2525.937. You've got the latest version. It was last updated on 11/28/2023.The client version is 49/23101227712.

    Any other suggestions?

    Best regards,
    Ivan
