The latest version of NEW TEAMS, lets you change the notification sound. There's not a lot to choose from, but at least we're not stuck with the default now.
No - well I can't anyway. I can toggle off "Play sound for incoming calls and notifications" which turns everything on or off, but I can't toggle them separately. Within the 'Chat', 'Meetings and Calls', 'People' and 'Other' editable setting there are only options for the display of the on the screen notification, nothing to do with notification sounds.
You can actually disable/Turn off the sound for Chats/Messages etc. and leave it on just for Phone Calls.
Under the Teams >Settings >Notifications, you can Edit the settings for Chat, Meetings and Calls, People and Other. You can turn each or some off.
There are many menu options I don't see in your list. Not sure why. I'm part of an organization, would that matter? For instance, there is no "Manage account" option when I select my profile picture. Nor is there a "Notification Style combo box". I can't see anything comparable in the "Notifications and activity" tab that I have.
When I try to change settings in Windows system, there is no option to change the sound in the Teams app. I have Windows 11.
It's awful to have the system notification sounds be the same sounds for anything Teams related. When I get a message on Teams, I shouldn't get the same notification sound as my operating system makes when it actually needs to get my attention i.e. for a software update. I am a Mac and iOS user and the same sound my phone makes for a text message (Tri-tone) is the same sound Team makes whenever someone messages me all day. This started happening when I updated to the new Microsoft Teams.
There should at least be an option to use system notification sounds, default Microsoft sounds for choose your own sound for certain notification types.
Without me doing anything, my Classic Teams app just started using a new sound to notify me that I have messages. It's no longer a quick "ping" type noise, but is now some longer sound effect and I have no clue where it's coming from. I've looked in C:\Windows\Media, but there are so many folders and files here that I have no idea what is being used. It would be nice if I could go to my Teams settings and choose the sound effects I want to use for chat messages and calls instead of whatever is assigning them now. I messaged my Teams support guy where I work and he's not aware of any changes that were made in our company environment that would have caused this so I have to believe that Microsoft is at it again. PLEASE MICROSOFT, let us choose our own sound effects like other apps allow!!!!!!!!!!!
