"Since Teams was introduced to us for use, the notification sound, that continuous "ding," can be changed to something more delicate or something that sounds a bit more pleasant? I have to live with the only sound notification Teams has, because Microsoft lacks imagination and forgot that not everyone who uses Teams may like the same sound, that annoying "ding" which after a few hours becomes like a hammer hitting your head."

The latest version of NEW TEAMS, lets you change the notification sound. There's not a lot to choose from, but at least we're not stuck with the default now.
No - well I can't anyway. I can toggle off "Play sound for incoming calls and notifications" which turns everything on or off, but I can't toggle them separately. Within the 'Chat', 'Meetings and Calls', 'People' and 'Other' editable setting there are only options for the display of the on the screen notification, nothing to do with notification sounds.
You can actually disable/Turn off the sound for Chats/Messages etc. and leave it on just for Phone Calls.
Under the Teams >Settings >Notifications, you can Edit the settings for Chat, Meetings and Calls, People and Other. You can turn each or some off.

Microsoft really REALLY needs to update teams so that we have the ability to change the actual sound of the ping notification. It's legitimately causing PTSD. I know that sounds dramatic but having the option to at least change the "ringtone" would be extremely helpful.
Holy Cow , found this thread assuming I could just replace the file and change the Teams notification sound , I 100% am with this guy having PTSD sounds when the notification goes off and would be huge if could have my own sound or at least choices of something different.
I don't have the link to where I found this, and it's not my idea but I have speakers plugged in to a headphone socket so I have set the speakers to be the default communication device and the internal speakers to be the default device (set in the Sound Control Panel) and muted the internal speakers. The ping from chat plays on the internal speaker, and the ringtone for an actual call plays on the external speakers. This doesn't stop other things playing sound - the usual exciting corporate training videos or youtube etc play through the speakers. I think you can do the same with a headset. Not a perfect solution but better than the infernal ping ping ping all day.
