Left & right arrow keys don't move the cursor (in teams)

ft and right arrow keys have no effect in TEAMS BUT left-arrow + CTRL moves left one word, and right-arrow + CTRL moves right one word. So it is clear the arrow keys on the keyboard are functioning and sending signals to the computer. I also tried my laptop built in keyboard & the number pad. All have the same effect. What could be making the arrows by themselves not work?  (Up and Down arrows work normally.)

1.      Is it a laptop or desktop computer?
Laptop 

2.      What is the make and model of the keyboard?
HP laptop keyboard & logitech external 

3.      Was it working fine earlier?
Yes at most an hour before

4.      Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?
No. Maybe I inadvertently hit some hot key?

    Hi fellow Teams users,

    I just noticed that I can get out of the bug also by:

    1. Making at first sure the text I'm writing is in focus/selected (cursor blinking there somewhere between letters/spaces).
    2. Pressing ESC, after which Teams offers to discard the message.
    3. Pressing ESC again.
    4. Now Left and Right arrows suddenly work again.

    This did nothing for me. The fix Ben posted to just click in the chat area above the text bar, hit ESC once, then click back into the text bar works.

    Please fix this issue. Its very bad to not realize your cursor isnt moving when editing a comment.

    This is happening to me. Arrow keys don't work and get stuck in insert mode. It ONLY happens in teams when typing a message. This is BUG! and happening 13 months after first being reported.

    Yep - exactly the same issue here. Nothing fancy with my setup either - an i7 laptop running the latest release of Windows 10 with a USB wired mouse and keyboard.

    Randomly stops accepting left and right arrow inputs into the text window. Literally switch to any other opened app and the arrow keys behave as they should. Switch back to Teams - nothing.

    I also have an extremely annoying copy & paste issue into Teams that randomly works when it wants. Again, any Clipboard contents continue to work fine when injected into the likes of Word, etc.

    It wouldn't annoy me so much if I didn't have to use Teams on a daily basis.
