Left & right arrow keys don't move the cursor (in teams)

ft and right arrow keys have no effect in TEAMS BUT left-arrow + CTRL moves left one word, and right-arrow + CTRL moves right one word. So it is clear the arrow keys on the keyboard are functioning and sending signals to the computer. I also tried my laptop built in keyboard & the number pad. All have the same effect. What could be making the arrows by themselves not work?  (Up and Down arrows work normally.)

1.      Is it a laptop or desktop computer?
Laptop

2.      What is the make and model of the keyboard?
HP laptop keyboard & logitech external

3.      Was it working fine earlier?
Yes at most an hour before

4.      Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?
No. Maybe I inadvertently hit some hot key?

This issue has been ongoing for almost a year! My left and right arrow keys almost never work in the teams chat editor, so I have just given up trying to use them. Extremely annoying!

    This is truly annoying!

    "Restart your computer", really Microsoft?!?!
Is there not any REAL solution to this issue?

Touch Wood... this hasn't happened to me for a while now.
I did notice someone else mentioned theirs went away after a Windows update. My system is controlled by IT dept who apply patches regularly ~ so maybe there is an unadvertised (or unknown 'fix').
Some people have commented that popping the chat out to its own window resets the problem ~ I'm wait for it to re-occur to try that one... has anyone tried that and it didn't work? Seems to be various work-arounds that work for some and not others

    • click on any three dot menu and escape (not foe me)
    • click on a three dot menu top open a different Teams window and escape back (worked for me)
    • pop chat out (haven't tried it yet)
    • stop/start teams ( i did it once or twice - too much hassle)
    • restart windows ... time for Linux!

Silly but working workaround - just open any menu that has a button with three dots [ . . . ] and close the pop-up by pressing Escape on keyboard.

This has been posted several times in this thread. But there is no real solution so far :(

This is just a glorified "Have you tried turning it off and on again". Instead of jumping through hoops and losing our histories by deleting database files, we need Microsoft to step up and actually fix the issue in the first place.
