Left & right arrow keys don't move the cursor (in teams)

ft and right arrow keys have no effect in TEAMS BUT left-arrow + CTRL moves left one word, and right-arrow + CTRL moves right one word. So it is clear the arrow keys on the keyboard are functioning and sending signals to the computer. I also tried my laptop built in keyboard & the number pad. All have the same effect. What could be making the arrows by themselves not work?  (Up and Down arrows work normally.)

1.      Is it a laptop or desktop computer?
Laptop

2.      What is the make and model of the keyboard?
HP laptop keyboard & logitech external

3.      Was it working fine earlier?
Yes at most an hour before

4.      Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?
No. Maybe I inadvertently hit some hot key?

How is this still an issue all this time later? The keyboard works, the computer works, so just fix Teams please!

Not that I am trying to imply that this is the biggest problem with Teams, and that resolving it will make Teams as good as any of the other meeting spaces-- Lord no, never that. Teams is hot trash-- but this little niggling issue is at least one of the most baffling.

checking the Disabling Hardware Acceleration option in the General Settings area worked for me (need to Quit and restart Teams afterwards for it to work).

I'm having the same issue. It would be great if Microsoft fixed this bug.

I have the same issue in MS Teams Version 1.5.00.2164 (64-bit) running in Windows 10 (Lenovo Thinkpad T480).

The workaround of restarting Teams (Quit > Open again) worked fine but it's still pretty annoying when it happens.

Maybe by reporting this to MS they can notice the issue and fix it, this is how I did it:
Help button (lower left corner) > Give feedback > Explain the issue and include the link to this MS Answers post:

Skipping to the end of these replies refers to the three dots work-around (stranger nearly than the issue).

I didn't read through all 216 replies, so may have missed the full description.

I had to play around a bit to find which three dots...

    • in the left hand menu panel (Activity, Chat,Teams etc) click the three dots ('more added apps')
    • click "More apps" at the bottom right of the pop-up
    • click "Chat" in the left hand panel again
