Microsoft Teams and Apple Airpod compatability

My company just purchased AirPods Pro for me instead of what's on the approved list. We are moving to Microsoft Teams for everything. No more desk phone. AirPods Pro have noise canceling feature and I really need it, since it's kind of noisy in the server room where I have to be during the meetings from time to time.

Anyway... I use it with my computer Windows 10  or my iPhone depending on the situation. If I don't want to use my iPhone, then I connect them to my computer in Bluetooth settings. After they are paired and connected, I can place/accept phone calls or participated in the meetings without any issues. If I want to use my iPhone, I connected them to iPhone and use with Microsoft Teams app.

The only time mic is not working, if for the meeting I use Microsoft Teams on my desk, use "Other join options" and select "phone audio". If the desktop version of the Microsoft Teams dials out to my phone for the meeting, the mic won't work. This is the only scenario that I discovered that doesn't enable the mic. 

To quickly connect my AirPods Pro to computer, I created a shortcut to Bluetooth setting page and placed it on my taskbar - "New" > "Shortcut"  > type "ms-settings:bluetooth" in the "Type the location of the item" field .  After AirPods Pro are paired, it doesn't take a lot of effort to switch from iPhone to Windows connection using that shortcut and selecting "connect" on Bluetooth settings page, under "Audio" > "Your's AirPods Pro". Even if the meeting is already in progress and AirPods Pro are still connected to you iPhone, takes a second to switch. That's if you don't want to use Microsoft Teams app on your phone. 

I do have to manually connect them back to the iPhone, If I want to continue to use them with iPhone instead of computer. AirPods Pro will connect to last connected device after removed from case. 

Not sure if the above works for AirPods. The above is for AirPods Pro. I would be surprised that it would be any different. 

So far I don't have any complains about AirPods Pro. In my case they cover 99% of all the usage scenarios, whether with Windows 10 or iPhone Microsoft Teams.

Will it work without installing Jabra Direct? I plugged it in and my laptop recognizes it (shows up in Bluetooth Devises in setting as well as on the bottom right task bar as "Speakers"), but this is my company's laptop and not able to download it without admin's approval.

it is just a bluetooth usb receiver for a jabra headset, but just happens to work with airpods (i am on a call as we speak)

it may work with other makes but it could be because this receiver has bluetooth 4.2

i plug in the receiver, install jabra direct, click on search for new devices then hold the pairing button on the airpods case

No free solution but get yourself a Jabra 370 USB receiver and pair your airpods to that and it works 100%. Other brands or newer jabras might work. i think it has something to do with bluetooth hands free 4.0???

Can you tell me exactly how this little device works? I can't seem to find anything on Jabra 370 Bluetooth adapter and I'm not familiar with this thing at all.

For the current situation, Airpods/ Airpods Pro are not in the list of Teams fully supported devices: USB audio and video devices. I have noticed that a part of users submitted similar feedback on Skype for Business UserVoice and Teams UserVoice. When will MS support AirPods? It is unacceptable to not do so given MS is making it's own customers more unhappy than Apple's. We'll all just continue to use Zoom when we need web conferencing, and Slack, until MS wakes up.
