This actually did the trick for me on MacOS 10.15.7 Catalina
Ran through the full uninstall process, rebooted and reinstalled Teams, rebooted again for good measure.
Then set myself a Calendar entry with a Teams meeting in Outlook and joined from there. And all of a sudden, the application loads and is back to normal.
Thanks for the tipp! Saved the rest of my working week and more I guess.
Steps that worked for me, based on your tip. I'm running MacOS 11 if that helps anyone
- Closed out of the Teams App
- Opened up a calendar item with a teams meeting
- Selected to join the meeting
- In the meeting, it will ask you to sign in for a better experience
- Select to sign in (do not join the meeting)
- after signing in, close out of teams
- Open teams backup and log in again
- NOTE: if you are connected as a guest to multiple teams like I am, you will get a prompt to select an organization to open.
- All is well in my world now
One more note. I had this issue after performing a fresh installation of MacOS 11 due to a flickering display issue. Fresh install of my Office apps too. I point this out because if Teams never opens properly, you never find the folders everyone is talking about to delete.
Hope this additional information to the original suggestion helps someone.
