Teams is not opening on macbook

Hello,

I have a user that uses a MacBook pro with Catalina on it. Recently teams have not been wanting to work on this user's computer. There were times where it was opened, but then froze and bogged down the performance of the MacBook. Sometimes it wouldn't open when the user would log into their computer for the day. It would just bounce and never open or give out an error.

We have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to his computer but now it just bounces like it is opening but then never does open. I have looked at other solutions like deleting the ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.teams  and teams folder but again the same issue.

This MacBook is about 1 month old and has the current update and the rest of the Microsoft office programs work fine on there. The user is currently using the web version of the teams to get by for now.  Wondering if there is anything we can try to get this working again.
Thank you

Ok guys I am running Big Sur. What I had to do was as follow

  1. Open up you calendar and find a teams meeting.
  2. Once you click on the meeting like your going to join. It will pop up a message asking if you want to use the desktop app.
  3. It will then ask you to login and once you do that it works.

    Hi ETJR,

Thank you for the posting in our forum community.

According to your description, we understand that you cannot open MS Teams application on Mac, so in this given situation, first we suggest you to that if there is any new version update available for your Mac operating system, kindly try to update new version update for Mac operating system.

Further, we suggest you to delete the “com.microsoft.teams” file folder under Application support folder. Kindly find the ~/Library/Application Support under spotlight search on Mac and delete the “com.microsoft.teams” file folder, After that kindly try to download and install Microsoft Teams from this mentioned link: https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads

Hopefully above things can work for you.

    Regards,

    Darpan
